Fashion academy graduate Lazarus Shuib started his career as a cabin crew before going on to create our iconic cabin crew uniform.

It was not until the 6th of January 2002, when our 3rd Boeing 737-300 flew in to the Subang Airport that our new red logo and livery was spotted.

We took on a “Proudly Malaysian” front by collaborating and honouring the renowned Malaysian cartoonist Lat.

Our second collaboration with Datuk Lat in 2009 to celebrate our growth as an Asean airline!

At a time of the dotcom era, we introduced a .com to our logo on the plane – the lowest fares, available exclusively on airasia.com.

In the first month of the takeover of airasia, we launched our first sale. We were still in our original corporate colours of blue and green.

On 18th April 2002, we became Asia’s first ticketless airline, doing away with the classic paper air ticket and the hassle of having to collect it.
